US Lottery Jackpot Reaches All Time High
How would you spend $1.5 billion?
The US lottery jackpot has reached a record breaking amount of 1.5 BILLION dollars. (Just over £1 Billion) An obscene amount of money in anyone’s eyes.
To put this number in perspective the price of a 250ft private yacht is around £20-30 million
The US lottery Powerball has not been won since the 7th of November, hence the accumulation of the jackpot. Everyone accepts the odds of winning are low, but at the end of the day someone’s got to win it – right?
The odds of having a jackpot winning ticket for the current Powerball is about 1 in 292 million. Just to emphasize how small of a chance that is, you’re looking at around 0.000000003% of buying a single winning ticket – compared to the UK lottery with estimated odds of winning sitting at around 1 in 13,983,816 or 0.000000071511
The payout has increased due to strong ticket sales on Monday, said Texas Lottery Commission spokeswoman Kelly Cripe.
The Powerball lottery drawing will be held on Wednesday. The game is played in 44 states, Washington, D.C. and two U.S. territories.
