The rise of the smartphone has been a revolutionary time. A small device that has eliminated the need for other devices, Apple’s iPhone and many other smartphones double up as; phones, cameras, GPS’s, music players and so much more.

But how reliant are we on these devices?


Britain’s mobile phone owners look at their devices nearly 1.1 billion times every day, according to new research.

A survey found that more than a third of smartphone owners look at their device more than 25 times a day, while a sixth check it more than 50 times each day.

There is now in fact a recognised disorder related to iPhone addiction, cited IAD (iPhone addiction disorder)


Some 80% of young people use their devices on public transport and 43% while eating at a restaurant.

A fifth of 18 to 24 year-olds admit to checking their phones when crossing the road.

They also check their phones around 52 times each day, compared to 12 times a day for those aged over 55.
