Squared is a not-for-profit housing association that has been providing affordable housing and wider support to individuals and families in Luton and South Bedfordshire since 1962.
Whether providing longer-term homes or short-term temporary accommodation, to helping individuals obtain purposeful employment, they work closely with a wide range of stakeholders, from customers to contractors on a day-to-day basis, and ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all is a key objective.
A relationship continually evolving to meet the needs of the organisation
Sureteam have supported Squared since 2007 and over that time have adapted their health and safety services to meet the changing needs of the organisation.
From initially supporting the development of a risk assessment process for their homes, their health and safety service has grown over the years and now includes the delivery of a wide training program as well as providing a central health and safety support function for their people.
More recently the team from Sureteam undertook a full Audit and Review across all areas of the organisation, from its health and safety strategy down to the practical implementation safety measures within internal processes on the ground.
The audit provided Squared with a roadmap for its current health and safety journey including regular feedback to the management board and assessment of risk levels across the organisation.

In addition to its consultancy services, Sureteam provides a full program of training to support the wide range of audiences within the organisation, including:
- Toolbox Talks to enable teams to share and discuss specific areas of health and safety that are relevant to them in a more informal and relevant way.
- Bespoke training for higher risk areas such as cleaning or maintenance tailored to the specific levels of risk and internal structures and processes.
- Certificated health and safety training as required either to meet specific legislative requirements or to develop internal skills to help promote and support a strong health and safety culture internally.
We see Sureteam as a key extension to our own internal health and safety team here at Squared. Sharing many of our own values, and acting as a “critical friend”, they add real value across all levels of the organisation.
Having taken the time to get to understand who we are and what specific risks we face, means that their advice and training is always practical and relevant.
