What is Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)?
Internationally recognised, the Mental Health First Aid course is designed to teach individuals within your business how to spot the signs and symptoms of poor mental health and provide help to colleagues on a first aid basis. This course gives the learner the opportunity to qualify as a Mental Health First Aider and the course is endorsed by Public Health England
What can we expect from the course?
The course teaches attendees a set of skills which will enable them to support colleagues experiencing mental health issues.
The course will also give them a deeper understanding of the issues that impact on, and relate to, people’s mental health as well as teach practical skills that can be used every day. This includes being able to spot the signs and symptoms of mental health issues and feel confident guiding people towards appropriate support.
Independent research and evaluation show that taking part in an MHFA course will:
- Raise awareness and mental health literacy within your business
- Reduce stigma around ill mental health and help participants feel confident guiding people towards appropriate support
- Boost knowledge and confidence in dealing with mental health issues internally
- Encourage people to start a conversation with a team member who may be experiencing a mental health issue
- Promote early intervention which enables recovery
It is important to understand that this course does not teach your employees to be qualified therapists, it enables to them to help provide support colleagues initially and guide them to obtaining help and support they may need.
Successful participants will be qualified as a Mental Health First Aider.
