Sureteam Partnership with Cardinus to Provide Healthy Working Program

Healthy working ergonomics logoAs businesses become more digitally focused, not only due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, but to meet the needs of employees for more flexible working arrangements, they require their Health & Safety support to be able to adapt with them.

Online training is one of the ways that we’re able to help clients to ensure the health and well-being of their employees no matter where they are located and more importantly when it is most convenient for them.

Providing Online Training & DSE Assessments

All employers have a responsibility under The Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations to protect employees from the health risks associated with prolonged use of display screen equipment (DSE).

Our online Healthy Working System allows us to provide a simple and easy way to train and assess all employees on this topic whether they are working in an office or from home.

Our longstanding client All Things Web® recently implemented this system to provide a more flexible way to provide training and DSE assessments for their team which operate in multiple locations.

Flexible, consistent DSE Training & Assessments

All Things Web® has 2 offices, however many of the team work between the offices, at home for periods of time or at client sites. They had always included DSE training and completed assessments as part of their induction training but had realised the increased mobility of their team meant that these needed more frequently updating and a physical written assessment wasn’t the most convenient way of approaching this.

They also wanted to ensure consistency of the DSE training that each member of the team received and to have an audit trail not only of the training but any recommendations and actions that were identified.

We therefore set the entire team up on our online Healthy Working System.

An added benefit was that when the team had to transition to work from home during the coronavirus outbreak they could quickly re-assess their new working environments and provide additional support on how to set up and work remotely – whilst fully complying with social distancing requirements.

What is involved in the Online Training?

The course takes approximately 30 minutes to complete including training material and assessment. Before the training commences it is important to understand how any individual employee works and what equipment they use. This allows us to tailor the training to that individuals’ requirements.

Once the training is complete the employee is asked to assess their situation which will help identify areas where they can improve working habits or adjust their workstation layout. Not only does this help address any immediate discomfort but also supports the overall well-being of the individual.

A healthy working action plan is created which provides the business with further advice, tips and actions an employee can take to resolve issues and importantly an audit report. An employee can log back into the system at any time to revisit material and / or complete a new assessment which is particularly useful when their working practices change.

Feedback from All Things Web®

All employees of All Things Web® were required to complete the healthy working programme. We spoke with Jess Lawrence, the Client Delivery Manager at All Things Web®. Historically, Jess has been involved with completing DSE assessments manually with the team so we were interested in hearing her thoughts of the new system.

“The healthy working system was such a pleasant surprise. Accessing and using the online portal was so simple. As I had been involved with completing DSE assessments in the past I was particularly intrigued to see what I could learn from this.

The online training was great and covered areas which I was already aware of but also expanded my knowledge which was incredibly useful. It certainly made me think more about the way I work.

Upon completion of my assessment I identified a few areas for action. What I didn’t expect was that Sureteam contacted me quickly to ensure I understood the potential issues that could arise as a result of my actions and prompted me to review further advice.

Because the system is so easy to use, we will be able to quickly complete the assessment again once we return to our offices.

DSE can be a factor which can so easily become low on a priority list in some workplaces so having Sureteam available to help with this fantastic online tool is amazing.”

More than just DSE

This online system covers a number of other areas of healthy working not just DSE and the ease of set up combined with cost effective pricing means that it could be the perfect way to support and upskill employees not only now whilst working remotely but in preparation for returning to more normal working practises.

Other subjects included within the system are:

Fire Safety
Ergonomics
Manual Handling
Slips, Trips and Falls
Travel Safety
Stress
