Sureteam Welcomes Seasoned Risk Management Trainer Neil Farrer to the Team
We’re delighted to welcome Neil Farrer CMgr FCMI TechIOSH to the Sureteam team as our newest Health & Safety Advisor and Trainer.
With over 30 years of experience in risk management, compliance and training delivery, much of it gained in high-hazard environments, Neil brings a wealth of knowledge and a proactive, people-focused approach to health and safety.
A Career Rooted in Safety and Leadership
Neil’s career has been defined by his ability to balance strategic insight with practical implementation. During his 30-year career in the British Army he held a range of senior roles, including Operational Training and Risk Manager and Senior Health & Safety Manager, where he helped shape safety policy, deliver training programmes and embed a culture of zero harm across multi-disciplinary teams.
From creating bespoke safety programmes and carrying out complex risk assessments to leading training assurance audits and improving compliance across large-scale operations, Neil’s record speaks for itself. Notably, he recently led a training initiative that increased safety compliance from 26% to 92% in under six months, a testament to his hands-on style and commitment to improvement.
A Passion for Training and Empowering Others
Neil is not only a seasoned practitioner but also a natural trainer. He holds a Level 4 Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector, as well as multiple health and safety qualifications including NEBOSH and IOSH.
He has delivered training at every level, from junior recruits to senior management, ensuring teams are not just compliant, but confident in applying best practices in real-world situations.
His approach blends technical knowledge with a clear, accessible communication style helping individuals and teams take ownership of their own safety responsibilities.
Staying Active – On and Off Duty
Neil lives in Frome, Somerset with his family, but originally hails from Sunderland and still proudly supports his hometown football club. A keen runner and passionate DIY enthusiast, Neil enjoys staying active in all areas of life.
He also continues to support the MOD as a Reserve Army Officer, delivering risk management training and assurance to reserve forces within the tri-service domain. His mission is to ensure that reservists receive the same high-quality preparation as their full-time counterparts, whether they’re deployed overseas or supporting operations here in the UK.
